Last week Jack and I took a little vaca out of town in LA. When our friend Devin Bowman a close family friend and a long time Barking Beast supporter took us up on the invite we threw her, we knew this road trip was going to be a party 😉

After doing some pet friendly hotel research we found a gorgeous luxury boutique hotel that was incredibly pet friendly located in Manhattan Beach called the Shade Hotel that looked like fun. Before we knew it Devin, myself and the ‘Back Seat Barker’ packed our bags and hit the road for LA!

In a timely 1 hour and 20 minutes on the 805 we soon arrived at our destination, Manhattan Beach. Before we checked into our hotel we were sure to check out the Manhattan Beach pier. By the time we arrived at our hotel it was time to relax, have a glass of champagne, and take a bubble bath. When we saw our suite we where very satisfied with our accommodations, the service was great. The room was beautiful and newly furnished with what appeared to be a modern mahogany inspired furnish, a fully stocked bar, a large queen size bath tub, the pillows felt like clouds, and … oh a did a mention a large bath!?

After a few hours of indulging in some hotel relaxation, Devin, Jack and I got dressed, to head down stairs for some dinner at the hotel restaurant. After dinner we toured the downtown Manhattan beach streets-  unfortunately it was abnormally cold that night so we decided to cut our night time sight seeing earlier than anticipated and back to our gorgeous suite room. When we got back to our suite we treated ourselves with another bathtub, room service and took part in a laughing marathon watching one of our favortie shows Betty White’s Off Their Rockers. The next day we decided not to take the freeway all the way home, we wanted Jack to enjoy a scenic tour of the beautiful California coast and that was the cherry on top of our mini LA vaca. 

While it’s clear this may not be everyones idea of fun night in LA, for Devin, Jack and I this was definitely a blast. A road trip with your dog and a best friend out of town to a neighboring city staying at a pet friendly hotel, pampering yourself in the hotel luxuries- all with the company of your dog is Barking Beasts idea of a great time. On our way back we took a drive back on the coast so Jack could enjoy the scenic tour of the beautiful California coast.

If you haven’t taken a short one night get away with your dog, I highly suggest you do- bring a friend if you’d like. If have a friend who a dog lover to invite them both for the mini pet vaca. Little mini vaca’s like this are always a good way to let some steam off and it can be emotionally, environmentally, and visually stimulating for FIDO too.
